Monday saw the official opening of the new clubhouse facility officiated by Mary Hoade and club officials. The sun shone all day as the large attendance enjoyed the various matches, side attractions, home made sandwiches and the general upbeat feeling. The extension to the club house is a credit to all involved and will be of great benefit to the parish for future events and activities. In celebration, we had matches at all ages starting at U8 up to senior football and hurling. At 7pm Mary Hoade kindly cut the ribbon followed by Fr Newell’s blessing of the building.
The number of people to be thanked is endless. A special thanks to the organizing committee of Eugene Geraghty, Seamus Collier and Kevin Scully, to the Development Committee of Willy Kavanagh, Paddy Newell, Pat King and JJ Shields, to Bartly Kavanagh, Tom Small, Gerry Farragher and Lilian O’Connell for organizing parking, to PJ Fallan for the bouncy castles and quads, to Martina Lydon, Marian Scully, Mary Higgins, Marie Commer and the Lady Footballers for organizing the endless supply of tea, sandwiches and hospitality, to Matie O’Neill for the music, to Gerry Coen and Seamus Finnerty for announcements and equipment, to Declan Regan for the ‘on the spot’ membership cards, to Derek Joyce and Derek O’Neill for the Gym promotions, to all of the Irish dancers, to Sheamus Healy for managing the yearly lotto ticket, to the lotto committee themselves, to all team managers and those that participated in all the events, to Kevin O’Connell for the photos, to Mary Hoade, Fr. Newell, Mike Geoghegan and Seamus Finnerty for the official part of the event and finally to all those not mentioned above and to the members of the parish who turned out in such great numbers.
