SELECTION FROM JUNE/JULY 2004

PICTURES

Initial picture posted in June shows Noel Walsh presenting the new Annaghdown U16 football jerseys to Mathias Coleman. Also in the picture are PJ Fallon (selector), Kevin Scully (Manager) and Tommy O'Dowd

This is followed by a number of pictures from the Open Day including a comparison between the 'original' clubhouse and the newer model in the background. We also have Joe Mularkey and PJ Brown enjoy the Open Day in Cregg. We capture the lotto committee checking the tickets following the draw from the drum.

The highlight of June was the Annaghdown vs. Killanin win in the Tommy Varden Senior Football Championship which saw us win 1-12 to 0-6. Headlines in the local papers were 'Annaghdown come in the back door and make themselves at home ! and 'Newell and Burke run riot'. We have a selection of pictures taken from the Tuam Herald showing Brian Qualter in action, Killanin's Marvin Lee eluding the challenge of Annaghdown's Martin O'Neill, Killanin's David Canavan and Annaghdown's Morgan Duggan in action plus Killanin's P.J. Gorman attempting to stop an advancing Franky Burke.

This is followed with one of the highlights of the year, the football training camp. We see Trainer Frank Small putting the players though their paces where over 200 young players attended. The future Annaghdown GAA lady footballers take a run around the pitch under the direction of Claire Burke and we have snaps of two of the groups that attended the summer camp.

Our U12 hurlers beat Sylane in the County Final in Loughrea with a final scoreline of 4-1 to 1-1. Well done to the team and mentors Adrian Pierce, Benny Creaven, Michael Geoghegan and Martin Cunningham. (Picture from Connacht Tribune).

We finish this FOTOFILE with a snap from the hurling camp which followed 2 weeks after the football camp.
