Annaghdown U14 hurling team that traveled to Killeagh in Co. Cork last weekend to play the local side there. Killeagh is the home club of the famous Joe Deane but unfourtantly Joe was away with the Munster team who overcame Leinster in the Inter provincials when we visited. On hand however was Corks 1999 All-Ireland winning captain Mark Landers to make presentations to our captains and give some words of encouragement. Thanks to the mentors and parents who traveled namely Adrian Pierce, Benny Creaven, Paul Curran, Richard and Mary Pierce, Catherine Farragher, Tony and Dolorus Murphy and Michael Geoghegan. All the children had a great time and we had time on Sunday morning to visit the statue of Christy Ring in the village of Cloyne and happened on the local side training for next Sundays Co Final. Among them were Cork stars Diarmuid O Sullivan and Donal Og Cusack. We hope to have Killeagh visit us in Annaghdown again in 2005.
