U14 A Football League Champions

U14 A Football League Final Replay
Annaghdown 1-07 Salthill 0-09
Congradulations to the Annaghdown U14 Footballers on a terrific victory last night in Tuam Stadium. Salthill played with the wind in the first half and held a 3pt advantage @ the break. Half time score was Salthill 0-05 Annaghdown 0-02. Seamus Curry goaled early in the second half to level scores and it was like this till the last 10mins when both teams traded points. Salthill looked to have had the advantage leading at the closing stages by a point but Justin Flaherty equalised with a great free kick. Then two fine efforts from Niall Kinneen in injury time, one a 40yd free and another on the run with his left foot made sure of the cup going to Annaghdown's Captain Séan Burke.
Congrats to the Management team of Teddy Kerin, Michael Higgins, John Comer & Johnny Curry.

Bank Holiday Wknd Results

Senior Football League 1B
Annaghdown 1-12 Monivea-Abbey 0-14
Annaghdown recored they first league victory of this year to move them on to 5pts out of a possible 8pts in their group. This game wasn't for the faint hearted but credit to Frankie Burke for shooting the winner under huge pressure. Annaghdown started the game in a good pace with Anthony Pender spliting the posts early but had to retire with an ankle injury straight after the score. Niall Coleman crashed home a great goal to move Annaghdown in a good position but Abbey kept plugging away to finish the half only 2pts behind. Half time score was Annaghdown 1-07 Monivea Abbey 0-08. Abbey started the second half brightest and it took Annaghdown's two corner backs to race up the field ending with a good point from Benny Newell. It was very tight near the finish and Abbey had alot of momentum eventually leveling the scorel but Frankie Burke popped up with the late winner, Abbey had last minute chance but their full back raced up the field to blaze wide.
Team was: Declan Walsh, Fergal Doherty, Adrian Fitzpatrick, Benny Newell (1pt), Brian Qualter, Paul Creaven, Anthony Pender(1pt), Niall Coleman(1 goal), Alan Kavanagh(Capt.), Padjoe Fahy, Damien Burke(2pts frees), Daniel Denegan(2pts), Ger Rafftery(2pts frees), Wesley Fallon & Frankie Burke(4pts).
